    Description

King Ridge Ski Area was a wonderful family-oriented ski area that operated in New Hampshire from 1961 through 1995. It was known as the “upside down mountain” because the parking and lodge were at the summit, skiers skied down the trails, then rode the lifts back up to the summit. The trails followed an Alice In Wonderland theme with names like The Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit, The Jabberwocky, The Dormouse, And the Carpenter, The Walrus, Big Tea Party, and Little Tea Party. Located in the town of New London, near Colby-Sawyer College, the ski area unfortunately closed down for good at the end of the 1995 season. This package of three four-color brochures celebrated the ski area’s 25th anniversary year in 1986-1987, the 30th anniversary year in 1991-1992, and the final brochure dates from the 1992-1993 season.
There are houses along the access road now, and another house where the summit lodge once stood. The chairlifts have long ago been sold off to other ski areas (a triple chair is now at Ragged Mountain, and another chairlift is at King Pine, both in New Hampshire), but Google Earth shows how the entire trail network still looks quite distinct.
This is your chance to own a piece of disappearing New England ski history!
