These 30 photographs are from a collection belonging to a Japanese American family living in California circa 1900s to 1940s. They participated in the cultural events at the 1939 World's Fair in San Francisco. By 1939 they were living in Southern California - but had lived as a family in Japantown, San Francisco in the 1920s and still had strong ties to the community there. Not every photo shows Japanese cultural events - but most do. I believe the children were involved in more than one procession and/or parade. There's writing in Japanese on the back of a few photos. Last photo shown may not be related to the fair - but shows five women walking in Kimonos. Photos Measure 3.25 x 4.5" and 3 x 4.75". One is 2.5 x 3.5". Very Good to Excellent. Please Examine Scans. This is a one-of-a kind original period item, NOT a more modern copy or reproduction.
